the end of august.

so i've been saying this alot lately, "summer is over and I don't care." you may be wondering, where did all the love go? i'm trying to get over a rut and rather than blaming myself i have decided to point the finger at the season.

i AM proud of this new song i recently made and the video footage i cut up for it. try it.

kirk out.

july 6 - a new start.

there's something about this new apartment that's inspiring. maybe it's the old light fixtures, or the wooden door knobs, or the red brick. im reminded of that scene in basquiat where he first goes into his new studio and everything is empty and the place is totally white. ahhh...and that bass line from flamenco sketches. bum...bum..........bum...bum.

there really is something to be said about having a camera on you at all times. this picture is unposed.

june 15 - saw funny games today. drank some strong coffee at true grounds. came home and watched moriah put the finishing touches on the mask. i told her that i wanted to give it a test run and our little mock photos turned out pretty decent, so now im gonna consider these part one of this ongoing little project of mine. click to see a slightly larger jpg. forgive me for puting a slightly lorez file, but im being alittle stingy with these.
wanna see pictures of the kiddie pools we bought last weekend? its way better than a/c. click on the screaming andrew - it was cold a s hell - to see more. see what i mean? summer has gotten the best of me just this once.
june 14 - summer has definitely arrived. im a winter person. give me chills, hard winds, the cold, and the bleak. give me winter. its not all based on bitterness. its also because good weather means moms with strollers, college kids with frisbees, and difficulty finding parking. i will admit, however, this summer has been a bit of a surprise. i have this strange desire to run through verdant forests, fend off mosquitos, catch fireflies, and dance around a fire. how disgustingly lame of me. this little video is somehow tied in with all that.

may 15 - crane's nest. white cannot jump out. i got into massart's graphic design program. one condition, i have to take a drawing fundamentals class for a couple months this summer. for some reason, im not excited. i think its because im too busy with other work. workoholic? yes, but not today.a few weeks ago i sat down and had dinner with madalena machado (a local architect @ www.agoraliving.com). we talked philosophy, architechture, and art, until it was almost time for breakfast. as madalena cruised from one idea to the next and one discipline to another, it occured to me how little i have to offer these days on all three of these subjects. i should probably stop spending my freetime playing go and pick up some of my old books again. ill let you know how that turns out.

21 - today my "project" takes alittle more shape. this is sort of a sketch of want i want to do with live models and paper mache masks out in franklin park. hmm, ill probably have to scout this out because i really need the shot to have only lawn and sky. this pose will be one of many. im thinking about going for sort of a "twin photography" posing style. you know, diane arbus-esque. that will certainly be one take. i hope to pop off atleast 100 before we have to shut the whole thing down. im skeptical about how far i will get into it before the public nude thing implodes. for now, ill post this picture here. im also thinking about doing a street series with random people and bags over their heads. each and every last one of you.

im thinking ill also put this sketch in my graphic art section, i kinda like it as a stand alone now. click to enlarge.

april 20 - so im going to have to date these because im doing more updates than i expected. i had it in me i wanted to play n64 games today on my computer. emulators are a wonderful thing until you get a trojan virus so wicked everything on your computer comes to a crashing halt. im currently running on about half my cpu's horsepower, but whatever, goldeneye looked great and zelda looked great.

it has come to my attention that my webpage is still not entirely kink-free. apparently everything doesnt line up when using internet explorer. this is precisely why im going to school for this sorta thing: it's always something. hopefully ill get it fixed in the next few days. *HUZAAH! i just fixed it! FYI: spacer images! more bad news, i lost the crack to vegas, so now i'm on a trial version. 26 days and counting. here's what i made today. i made the "music" using my favorite little program, fruityloops.

still april - i'm gonna play with the video i did today and try to post that tomorrow. until then, how about bowling night and camera nerd out at diesel with b, em, aron, and mozz. life, life is alright on the rhine. (if you want to see the thumb enlarged, just click on the picture.) wasn't it my idea for brian to grow the twisty mustache? i guess it should be mentioned that photo credits go to everyone here. these photos were shot with my awesome 20d (still kicking) but with everyone's fine eyes.

april - so here's the new page. notice anything different? i've decided to go for an entirely different concept. the old page was too quiet. by that i mean i never chimed in through words or updated frequently. the new layout should help me to add pictures more frequently and maybe, just maybe, start using this front page as some sort of picture-ideas-bloggy-what-not. no promises, i'm not a "writer," but i am starting to like the idea of maybe using this as a reason to "get out" alittle more. because it's easier, i have also decided that it's time to start including other recent work, even though it's not quite related. i think i'll add some video next. stay tuned.
